The first year of your foal's life is crucial for healthy development, and monitoring their nutrition and overall well-being is key to keeping them on track. In the first few hours, colostrum is vital for building their immune system as it is rich in essential antibodies. During the early months, the foal will primarily rely on the mare’s milk for the protein, fat, and carbohydrates needed for growth. Around 2-3 months, you can begin introducing solid food like high-quality hay and foal-specific grain to meet their growing nutritional needs. Gradually transition from milk to solid feed while ensuring constant access to clean water.
